The Innkeeper
Long time naturist, Bill Schroer (former Executive Director, AANR and board member NAC) envisioned a naturist B&B on his property since he discovered this unique venue in 1991. Within this natural paradise is a 40 acre wooded property with a contemporary B&B in the center, bounded by a spring-fed pond and 300+ acres of wetlands, an ideal water and migratory bird refuge and safe haven.
Over the years Bill developed the site to include hiking trails, added to the apple orchard (to encourage deer), began beekeeping (Nuance B&B honey is fabulous!), and added wood duck houses, bat houses and bird feeders in numerous locations to insure a wildlife friendly site.
Rebuilding the home in 2000, Bill added guest rooms, a great room, spacious decks, a hot tub and recreation area in the garden level with game, ping-pong and pool table, wet bar and a library that reflects many years as library consultant, facilitator of a book salon and passionate reader.
The result is that Nuance Naturist B&B is a great place to rest, relax, recharge and/or play naturally!
Bill’s Bio
After serving as an instructor at West Point Bill continued in the Special Forces Reserves where he continued to develop an appreciation for nature, living frequently in the midst of natures’ beauty and awesome power.
Bill began his civilian career in advertising, moved to the brand management side managing portions of accounts at major food companies culminating with the Kellogg Company…which brought Bill to Battle Creek. Pursuing his naturist interests Bill joined the NAC (Naturist Action Committee) board and served for 6 years, in the later years as Treasurer. Some years later Bill was recruited to serve as Executive Director for AANR (American Association for Nude Recreation). Upon the conclusion of that assignment Bill returned to Battle Creek to further pursue his naturist interests by developing a naturist venue that would serve as a gateway for first time naturists eager for a naturist experience without the crowds. He also wanted to serve long time naturists more interested in an intimate connection with nature than being part of a resort style nudist environment.
Nuance B&B is a naturist retreat in progress and more trails, bird viewing stations and opportunities to connect with nature are planned.
Gaia
Another sentient being you will encounter at Nuance B&B is Gaia, the cat. Gaia is very friendly toward people but doesn’t deal too well with four footed outsiders. (Please leave your pet at home)
